Auntie Nika!

Well it's amazing, I'm finally an Aunt! My nephew, Benjamin Jackson Plummer was born on Friday May 25, 2007. He was 7lbs, 14 oz, about 21 inches long. I really can not believe he's finally here. For so long we were anticipating his arrival and he has finally graced us with his presence.

I just want to congratulate my sister Apryl and her husband Andrew. They will be wonderful parents and I am so excited for them. Apryl you thought the hard part was being pregnant, now the real work begins!

Coffee, Ice Cream & PB&J's!

I love to plan weddings where the couples put their personal stamp on the event. One way you can do that is to offer little treats throughout the night that you love. For example if you love coffee (like I do) how about bring in a coffee kiosk for your guests so they can have latte in your honor before they leave for the night. Another great idea is to have an ice cream sundae bar (another one of my favorites!) set up for your guests. They can make their own special sundae with all of the yummy toppings. I was flipping through the Weddings In Style magazine where they featured one of my favorite chefs Tyler Florence and photos from his recent nuptials that took place in South Carolina. At midnight the couple served mini PB&J sandwiches with milk in a cute shot glass. Isn't that a cute idea! Don't be afraid to do it. When will be the next time you'll have all of your loved ones in one place? It's great when you can share your favorite things with your family and friends!

We Celebrated Mama!

It was my pleasure to be the Event Planner for the 1st Annual Celebrate Mama Event held in Charlotte, NC at the Ballantyne Village on May 5th. This event was filled with vendors with items geared to everything related to "mama" and it also supported the The Shelter for Battered Women in Charlotte, NC. Unfortunately, on the day of the event we had a cool blast of weather to come through, but despite the awful weather we still had a pretty good turn out. This event was coordinated by Jenny Sanderson of Stroller Strides and I'm happy to have made a great friend during the process of assisting with this event. I have totally fallen in love with the tents by Raj Tents, www.rajtents.com, an exotic tent rental company based in Southern California. These guys have designed tents that can easily transport you and your guests to another land full of rich traditions and cultures. Based on their website, Raj Tents has created an exotic range of handmade canopies, pavilions, tents and accessories. This collection of tents would be perfect for any outside celebratory event. So if you have a themed event coming up or if you just want to add that something special to "WOW" your guests this company may be what you need.

Your Fairy Tale Gown for Your Fairy Tale Wedding

Well, Disney has done it again and this time they are sharing their magic with brides. Kirstie Kelly http://www.kirstiekelly.com/ has created a gorgeous collection of couture bridal gowns entitled Kirstie Kelly For Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings all inspired by the Disney Princesses: Ariel, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine and Snow White.

My favorite gowns are inspired by Belle, so classic and timeless. These beautiful gowns are priced between $1,100 and $3500 US dollars. The collection was unveiled during Bridal Week in New York City. Look out for the "Maidens" bridesmaids collection in specialty boutiques in June 2007.

Wow, that's a pretty big picture of me! I am Shanika Jerger Butts, the principal consultant and owner of SJB Weddings & Events. Since October 2006 I have been planning weddings in the Charlotte, NC area. My favorite weddings are those that are made personal by the bride and groom by adding their own special touches to their event.
